Serena Williams

The American professional tennis player Serena Williams is an epic inspiration to women all around the globe. The former world No.1 in women’s singles tennis has shaken the tennis world with her exemplary records through the decades. 

Although Serena played tennis since she was just four years old, her professional career began only after she turned 14. Over the years, she and her sister Venus were trained by different coaches, including their parents. 

At the beginning of her career (in 1995), Serena did lose a few matches. However, the very next year, she was seen defeating players from the top 10 list. Following some ups and downs in the years to come, she finally reached among the top 10 players on the tennis field. Later she was ranked No.1 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) eight times during the 2002 to 2017 period. Apart from this, she has also clenched 4 Olympic gold medals. 

In 2015, Serena met her future husband, Alexis Ohanian, by chance at a hotel in Rome. A year later, the duo got engaged and finally walked the aisle in November 2017. But before that, in September 2017, they were blessed with a baby girl. The couple named their daughter Olympia who is currently getting her tennis lessons by professional coaches. 

Serena has also been associated with several brand endorsements such as Puma, Nike, Pepsi, IBM, Intel and many others. Furthermore, she also actively participates in charitable works. She has even been a UNICEF’s International Goodwill Ambassador since 2011, helping in aiding education in Asia.
