About Lukas Rosol
Anna Blinkova is a Russian tennis player, born on September 10, 1998. She is a right-handed player, and her coach is Ivo Klec. She has previously worked with Vladimir Platenik, Thomas Drouet and Mislav Hizak, but it seems that Klec has taught her the most. She reached her first two WTA semifinals of her career in 2019 at Guangzhou and Luxembourg. She also made the quarterfinals at the Bronx, reached the third round at Roland Garros and lifted the WTA 125k Series title at New Haven. At the 2019 Doha tournament, she defeated No. 12 Sevastova for the second time in her career and beaten No. 13 Mladenovic at the same tournament in 2018.
Anna's mother Elena travels on tour and sometimes coaches her, as she is also a highly skilled tennis player, though not professional. As a junior, she didn't win a single game in the first match. But, not getting disappointed in her youth, she kept on pushing and grabbing for more.Â
In-game, she likes hard courts, and her favourite shot is forehand. Before focusing on tennis, she enjoyed playing high-level chess as a teenager. Anna likes to read, and her favourite authors are Jack London and Erich Maria Remarque. She is also fond of classic Russian literature and sports autobiographies like Andre Agassi, Usain Bolt, Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray. She is also proud to be a polyglot, speaking Russian, Slovak, French and English.
Regarding her professional career, her first Top 100 season was in 2018, when she finished as No. 98. In 2017, she reached the second round twice, including the Australian Open, and entered Wimbledon and the US Open. In addition, Blinkova won two singles and two doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.Â
