Kaia Kanepi was born on June 10 1985 in Haapsalu, Estonia. She started playing professional tennis representing her nation in 2004.

She reached a career-high ranking of world no. 15 in August 2012. She has gained 4 WTA singles titles.

Kaia has been Estonia’s pride, winning several first titles for her country. One such early incidence is that she became the first Estonian player to reach the finals at the Gaz de France Stars in 2006. 

Tennis Influences

Kaia’s family certainly had a major influence on her decision to start playing tennis. Her mom and dad both played tennis as a free-time activity. Even her sisters Kadri and Karen played tennis when they were kids. In fact, Kadri’s tennis skills were so on the spot that she earned a tennis scholarship to study in the US. 

Watching her entire family play tennis, the love for this sport grew in little Kaia. So, she started playing it at the age of 8. Over time, she had different coaches who helped her ace at the games. Moreover, her parents supported her decision to take up the sport as a career. 

Growing up, her tennis idol was Martina Hingis, the former tennis pro from Switzerland.

Hobbies and Interests of Kanepi 

Kaia says she loves watching movies and listening to music. She is also fond of cars and loves to drive fast cars sometimes. 

Kaia Kanepi is pretty active on social media. She often posts her regular tennis training sessions on Instagram. Although she is active socially, there is not much information on her love life.
