Sloane Stephens is an American tennis player with a world rank of no. 3 in July 2018. She was born on March 20 1993, in Plantation, Florida, US.

She has won 6 WTA singles titles, including the 2017 US Open championship. As of 2021, she stands at the world rank of no. 63.

Tennis Influences

Sloane hails from an athletic family, which could have influenced her to take up a sports career. Her dad, John Stephens, was an American professional football player. Her mother, Sybil Smith, is a collegiate-level swimmer who has a spot in the Athletic Hall of Fame at Boston University. Even her half-brother, who is younger than her, played football and baseball at the high school level. 

Sloane began playing tennis at the age of 9. She practised regularly at a tennis facility near her home called Sierra Sport and Racquet Club. Her key inspiration to playing tennis was her stepfather, who regularly played tennis at this club. However, she also credits her mother for encouraging her to take up a career in this field.

Later on, she took training at Evert Tennis Academy and Nick Saviano High-Performance Tennis Academy. 

Hobbies and Interests of Stephens 

Sloane is fond of fashion and music primarily. She also loves to spend time with her family when she is free.

Sloane is currently engaged to her childhood friend Jozy Altidore. Jozy is an American soccer pro and has been friends with her since she was 10 years old. However, the duo only began dating in 2017 and got engaged in 2021.
